Peter was wise to depart HP when he did for several reasons. What worked well in the beginning with Steve being the front man for HP and a bit of a mentor to Peter when HP was formed couldn't stay that way as Peter developed in his own right. Steve was just WAY too big of a talent vocally. While HP did stay together for another 10 yrs, no one could ever argue with the huge success of Peter's solo career. I was 14 when he released his live album in 1976. The buzz about that album was absolutely HUGE.
